Anyone else catch hell w/ the new CREATIVE X-FI Drivers?

I have the XtremeGamer X-Fi chip and recently updated the drivers...

I've been getting svhost crashes that result in a forced reboot, BSOD after BSOD IRQL_NOT_EQUAL errors, and most recently NTSF.SYS BSODs.

Couldn't even get into safe mode, had to ah heck settings in my BIOS to get windows to boot normally. Uninstalled everything creative and ran driver sweeper, restarted and returned my bios settings to what I want.

Things are stable right now, I'm running CHKDSK in windows and again when it restarts...

I have Avir Anti-Vir updated and Spy-Bot tea-timer on guard as well. Hijackthis log showed nothing suspect, but I will be doing full scans in safe mode once the integrity of all my hardware has been verified.

My current system:

E8400 @ Stock 3.0
P5N-E SLI
4GB DDR2-800 Crucial Tracers 4-4-4-12
300GB WD V-Raptor
EVGA 8800GT 185.20 Drivers
X-FI XtremeGamer
Corsair 650TX PSU

^-If anyone has had issues w/ these components please let me know!

Riding things out best I can, hopefully I'll be able to post a resolution...

Now I'm getting a PFN_LIST corrupt BSOD.

Can ram suddenly go faulty after 6 months of normal use?

The latest driver from their site 2_18_2008

Might have been ram all along, juat awitched out for 2GB of Corsair Value Ram...time will tell I guess....

Fawking Crucial Tracers, the girlies like the twinkling lights but it's not worth the stomach curling fright.

WTF, I mem tested it when I got all clear???

Then suddenly there's errors up the ass? What kind of shoddy manufacturing process causes degredation of memory over time???

I would think quality control would be in effect for premium ram like that??

GAWD FAWKING DAMMET, Crucial made me think the damn
"Silicon Gods" had cursed me and forsaken my soul. Instead I lose a day of my life troubleshooting something that never should have emerged as I took the neccesary precautions when I purchased this product!!!!

Reinstalled the X-Fi drivers and everything's a hoot, the ram just went shitty on me coinciding with driver changes which created chaos.

I'm finished with Crucial. I have a set of bad Tracers in my drawer. With ram as cheap as it is, it isn't worth the RMA just to get crap ram back. This set is after some regular Ballistix I had to rma last year. Right now I'm using Patriot and Corsair without problems.

Not to ruin your day or anything, but you do realize that Corsair, G.Skill, Patriot, etc, etc. all have several RAM modules that use the same Micron IC's that Crucial uses right... (afterall Micron owns Crucial).

The only reason why I can see the modules failing is:

a) Shoddy cooling on Crucials heatspreaders (which is a possibility sames it's just a metal frame with a plastic insert IIRC.)
b) People are feeding these things way to much voltage (eg. While the box says 2.2v; I'm pretty sure that is the max supported voltage not the required amount; should be 1.8-2.1v to get the timings right.)
c) Combination of things like bad cooling, poor voltage control on motherboard, etc. etc.

OMG I've been stable for the past couple of hours now, after about 2 weeks of degrading stability.

FAWK FAWK FAWK FAWK FAWK FAWK, FAWKAWK! I feel like a raped hen.

I don't know where the problem lies, but as far as I'm concerned Crucial makes junk. My modules were underclocked, and undervolted. With both sets, I'd start to have problems, and "fix" it by adding more juice. That would work for a little while, and they'd start screwing up again, and after awhile more voltage wouldn't fix them.

All crucial ram I've had has died on me and I always found after after the fact that many others had the same problems.

DTS connect pack that creative released rocks btw.

I've been stable at 4.0 GIGS on my E8400 for the past 24 hours, GTA IV on Max all day silky smooth. And the value ram with 6-6-6-18 timings gives me no performance drop in any games :0

FAWK j000 Crucial, AND FAWK all those Crucial FANBOIS that told everyone in 2007:

"Oh yeahs, doze Microns Crucial makes are dey sheets, crucial owns micron so j00 cant go 'woooong'(lispy) wit Crucial!"
