Well it all makes perfect sense to me, primary elections are NOT part of the USA government, they are just like a club voting for club president, and if you aren't a member of their club then why SHOULD you get to vote? Makes no sense to let a democrat go and vote in the republican primary.

Where is the oath the OP referred to? I see no reference to an oath, and without an oath there is absolutely no possibility of a perjury conviction.

What I see here at most is a requirement that some political parties in some states require you register for a party before being allowed to participate in that party's primary. A prefectly reasonable requirement. If you are so offended by being required to register for a party, then don't do so and stay out of the primaries. I did this for years myself.

See Vic's post above for WA:
- I declare that I am a member of the Republican party
- I declare that I consider myself to be a DEMOCRAT

I can't honestly say yes to either statement, so (being honest) no voting for me.

Fortunately loyalty oaths are not required for the elections, just the primaries.

I still fail to see how this is perjury. You are not lying in a court of law.
