Anyone else at work today?

I have to cover a shift until noon EST. As a group, we share the responsibility every holiday. I haven't had to do it in a couple of years so I volunteered for today. I just happened to have my Wii with me and I'm about to hook this bad boy up and start playing at my desk for the next 7 hours. :)

Two more hours, and I'll finish my second shift of the day... 16 hours of work is just too much for no sleep inbetween the shifts. :( Almost done though--hopfeully I get relieved on time.

I'm doing a short shift today... aircraft dispatcher here, and when the last flight gets back to our ramp in two hours, I'm outta here. For now, just twiddling my thumbs and dreaming of sleep.

That sucks. At least you're almost done. I normally work 9-6. I was able to leave just after 3pm yesterday since I had to come in this morning. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that there won't be too many problems to interrupt my game playing. haha...

I'm going to get fired for this. I told my boss that I would and he didn't care as long as I covered the phones. I wonder what a higher-up would say if they walked in. I'm very tempted to wire this bad boy up to the wall projector next to me.

Police dispatcher here. :) But you'll never catch me uttering the words "it's pretty slow right now", because that is just bad luck like crazy to say in dispatch.

No, we have holidays both today and tomorrow... however, I have projects that need to get finished and I start a new engagement next Monday... so looks like my Sunday will be spent in the office. Ah, well, no one said life would be easy, and at least I get a decent salary for the work I do, and I get to continuously learn new things.

I could use some sleep too. I couldn't fall asleep last night until almost midnight only to wake up at 3am. My girlfriend's neighbors are extremely loud every night and the walls are paper thin. d@mn college kids...

I normally do the 6am - 2pm shift. But I took someone else shift (10pm - 6am) so that they could leave early to go home for Turkey Day. However, when I was at home for the 8 hours inbetween, I never would have thought that people would be mowing at the apartment the day before Thanksgiving. So I didn't get any sleep during the day...

I hope so. I have to be at my parents house @ 1300, and then in-laws @ 1600. Luckily, my wife is driving...

I work for Satan.... well almost. I have worked for Haliburton.
I do contract work offshore in the Gulf of Mexico doing deep water work (no diving) for oil & gas companies. And yes there is hella overtime.
I actually get paid based on a 24 hour day - since I can't exactly go home - with OT kicking in after 40 hrs each week. That works out to 128 hrs a week at OT rates + 40 hrs at normal rates.
On the other hand, money can't buy happiness or time at home. (Sorry, just a perspective check there. Not fishing for sympathy - its my choice, for now.)

Happy Thanksgiving!!
Oh, and get a steal of a deal on BF! :)

Yeah, but mine's easy. I am a Canadian working just over the border in the USA. So I traded and took 2 days off for Canadian Thanksgiving, and now I'm working. Gives everyone else here a no-worries 2 days because the holiday "skeleton coverage" is covered by me.
