This may be only be a small irritiation to most people here but this is what happened when I called UPS this morning.

The guy told me that my package (antec case from EMS) was scheduled to be deliverd on Monday Sep. 10th. I was looking at their website as I called them BTW. It showed the package was to be deliverd today!. I also asked him that if, for some reason, my package arrived at the UPS office today after the trucks left could I go get it. He said that was not their policy to let customers pick-up the item from there unless it had been pre-arranged at the time of the order???? So after I listened to his moronic rambling I just gave up and accepted the package would not be here today.
A few hours later I decided to call the 800# again and try and get the telephone # (it's not in the phone book) of my local UPS office. I was just gonna call them and see if, by some small chance, the package did arrive. The lady I talked to this time said that she didn't have acces to that kind of information. What's the dela with that? I've been down to the local office numerous times and I'm fairly confident I've seen tham talking on phones. Not very happy with UPS right now!.

UPS really depends on where you live/work and who works where you live/work. The UPS guys around my home and my prior job on Long Island were extremely helpful and courteous, but I've read the many stories here about UPS. If all else fails, use FedEx, they always seem to be the best all around.

But to answer your question, UPS only allows Pickup for Pickup Only packages I think.

UPS won't allow customer pickup until after the first delivery attempt. They leave the yellow notice. With that and I.D. you can arrange to pick up. The company that you bought from is the paying UPS customer. Your sales rep should have given you a little info o what to expect. When I get something by UPS, they deliver on schedule but their website never shows mine "out for delivery".

I love it when UPS asks me this...

"Hello, can I please have your tracking number?"

"Sure. It's XXXXXXXXXXXXXX"

"And your name?"

"John Doe"

"Ok, and what's the address this package is being sent to?"

I mean, WTF? Shouldn't they know exactly where the package is going? It's certainly not any sort of confirmation question or anything because you can clearly hear them typing all the info on their computer while I'm speaking to them and they ask you to spell out the address and to wait while they enter the zip code and such.

And of course, there's always my favorite line...

"Ok, I see here that the package is being sent to
1111 Main Street
Happyville....uh....CA...is that California?"

"No...It's Louisiana....::sigh::"
