I think the express and custom installs are a good idea; makes the process of selecting updates easier for those users who arent capable or dont have the time to analyze the updates as they are released and just want a button to "make it go"

As for the colors, you got me. I think they look okay, but than I never had a problem with the old ones. This is the nature of things, design changes over time (just ask the auto manufacturers).
You have been ionfected with the SP2 virus
Actually the new WU site is not exclusive to SP2, you can (if you so desire) visit it with unpatched machines...

Do you really want to install things on your computer without reading about them first. Hmmmmmm. Why are viruses getting so many these day?

When it comes to end users installing Windows updates in stand-alone installs (which is one of the few situations where end users should really have access to accounts with administrative privilages anways) yes.

Besides, if they are unable to understand what the updates are doing in the first place what good would it do them to review before instaling?

Yes, what's going on? Before you could read a description of each file and, thus, make an informed decision of what to download. Now you don't have that option. What's Microshaft up to now, eh?
