Nice Moon Festival in LA Chinatown last night.

And LOL at the art galleries in Chinatown, who in the hell thinks that crap is art? o_O

All I'd need is a few hits of acid and some paint and I could kick all their art asses...

They're ok. I don't understand why they're so expensive though.

Moon pie >>> moon cake and I don't even know what moon cake is.

Edit: Okay, I looked moon cake up. I like azuke beans so I'd probably like moon cake.

I love mooncake. You can put various things inside of them.
Yeah, the first recipe said azuke beans but then I saw that the wiki article mentioned lotus paste. I can see where they could get pretty expensive with more expensive fillings. OP: how much were they charging?

GF got some free from her employer, they were giving out slices for free @ the festival.

I think moon cakes are sort of the Chinese equivalent to fruitcake. People give them as gifts but no one really eats them. I have some Chinese friends and none of them like them.

Mooncakes are delicious - June 2011 thread. :p

Paid $0.75 for each (Chinatown Chicago).

Are those legit? (with legit mooncake ingredients)

They're always considerably expensive in NY Chinatown & Bos Chinatown, even when other pastries are dirt cheap (50 cents for pineapple bun).

They go for like $2.50-$5 each.

i like them and eat them since we have a chinatown here in sf. they are expensive though 4-4.50 depending on how many eggs yolks they have
