I just discovered this wonderful drink! Defintely a cozy drink while reading a book just before bed.

Anyone have any suggestions for reasonably priced (but good) ports? I've got some Taylor Fladgate (Late Bottled 1998), but it is on the low end.

I have a bottle of Taylor Fladgate ( love the butterscotch/ praline flavor) right here that cost $26.99. What do you mean by reasonable. Most of the time I drink Bin 27 which is about $15 a bottle and has a blackberry flavor to it.

The one I'm drinking now was $27 (cdn) for a 750mL bottle. At the store there were bottles that were near $200. So I guess reasonably priced for me usually means now bottom of the barrel cheap, but the next echelon up from that. I guess I don't have any complaints about what I got now, I just want to try others :) (just don't reccomend me something that's $100 ;))

Drinking a bottle of Tawny Port right now. actually have two in the house. On the low end, but overall a approvable drink.

OMG, I just searched up tawny ports on google and they sound yummy! I always thought ports were berry based. A butterscotch or cinnamon tawny port sounds pretty darn good.

I learned a long time ago in the F&B business that it is truly a waste of money to by old/ high priced wine/ ports. They don't taste any better. Simply find a few of the cheaper ones that you like to drink. Any enjoyment gotten out of an old/ high priced wine/ port is derived from being able to share somethin old/ expensive with friends and not the wine/port itself. I know "socially elite" people who have plenty of the expensive stuff laying around for special occasions but buy their drinking wine by the gallon.

The bottle of Fladgate I'm drinking is a 10year old Tawny Porto. Yours isn't?

Edit: I would just stay in the $15-$25 range and try ones from different port houses.

No, it's a late bottled vintage 1998.

I agree with you on the whole old/expensive bottles. that's why I tend to go a level above the cheapest... you can usually tell the difference between the cheapest bottle of wine, and something that costs $10 more.

Fladgate I'm drinking now. It has a nice butterscotch flavor. Again I would suggest Fonseca Bin 27 for a berry flavor it is cheap and very good . I also like Graham's Tawny Porto 20 Years Old but its $50. Oh and Porto Pocas Colheita Porto '70 has a good hazelnut flavor.

Thanks a lot! Got plenty to try out when I'm done this bottle. It might take a while though, this stuff packs a punch. Perfect for just before bedtime :)

I found some articles online and found many favourable reviews for Graham's Tawny Porto.

Thanks for the reccomendations.

Here's where I got mine, there was an extremely attractive woman with a European accent handling the register. I'll definitely be visiting them again ;)

This port has done it's job, and now I'm sleepy. Thanks for everyones input!
