Wish I could do this on my iPhone. GV is pretty slick. I'm using it but to check for SMS/voicemail, I have to pull up the webpage or my email.

I moved into an area that had TMobile 3G (LA), and the call of 3G on my G1 was too great.

Loved my iPhones on TMobile, but they were too slow on 2G.

Yeah, same here. I said good-bye to T-Mobile last night - the economics of the 3GS on T-Mobile didn't make as much sense, and I like the 3G network too much. Having talked to a bunch of AT&T CSR's last night, I have to say that I'll miss T-Mobile. In general, T-Mo seems much friendlier.

I'm hoping Google come out with a GV app for the iPhone when they open the beta. In the meantime, I'll suffer from Android-envy.

GV's android app is amazing. i wish the BB app was as integrated as the android app. i also wish i had a fave5, so i could just use GV as my main number for everything and not have to pay for text msging or minutes lol

This has pretty much pushed me over to Android, but importing the Hero or Magic is so $$$$$$. Still gonna do it I think.

Just switched to the official Google Voice app from Google, works just as well.

It is amusing to see the text messages from my Chinese as a native language friend's get translated

:D

T-Mobile supports Visual Voicemail now. They even have a visual voicemail app in the market. It does require a dataplan since it won't sync on wifi.

I may fall back to GV for visual voicemail when/if I decide to cancel data plan.

IIRC, the G1 doesn't even work without a data plan.

It can. You'd just need to depend on wifi for data. You can even register the phone without a data plan. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=452316
