Anyone do Resident Evil 7?

Thinking about getting this. It's getting good reviews. So I was wondering if there are any people here that have tried it. I read that the game is only 10-12 hours long so I might wait a year or two so I can get it used for $20.

Played the demo and I thought it was good. I thought it would be a bit longer but I guess not. I think I still get a 20% discount at best buy but I would want to play it on my ps4 pro rather than pc. It seems to be different compared to other RE games. The demo didn't give you enough info on what you would be doing.

For me it was between this and Yakuza 0 and since it's the first Yakuza game here is the states I had to choose it over RE7 but I will definitely be getting it later this year as it does look good and going back to the their horror roots.

I didn't know Yakuza came out for ps4. I was debating taking a look into it. For some reason I've always heard of it but never got to try it.

Watching a 25 minute review of Yakuza 0 on YouTube. Wow. I might have to get this.

Played the demo, got the dirty coin, 2spooky4me. I did have a bit of motion sickness with the game. I might pick it up in a while but too many other games in the queue right now.

Watched Yakuza 0 on twitch. it looks pretty boring
Yea I sat through a 45 min YouTube video then another 20 min video. Still couldn't get into it and it seemed like you just spent more time listening to characters talking and reading subtitles.

The reviews on metacritic are great but I think this has to do with the franchise just being very popular too.

Coworker bought it and has been playing at lunch at the office. He is using VR and the controls are pretty terrible. Other than that it seems like a nod back to the original RE games, except with super tedious boss battles.

I got Playstation VR on Sunday and picked up RE7 on Tuesday. The RE7 demo was amazing with VR. I haven't played the actual game yet.

There are multiple endings in the demo.

It actually seems more like the first Resident Evil game (which took place in a creepy mansion).
Yea I remember the first one which is why I see now they brought that back. I'm going to pick it up today. Maybe one day if I end up getting the VR I'll try it that way too.

Although super creepy games like this take me a long time to finish because I turn into a chicken after a while.

Edit: I did pick it up and played a little over an hour. The atmosphere is great if for what it's suppose to be and the graphics are very good too. I got it on ps4 and it goes into HDR mode on its own if you have the ps4 pro.

Reminds me of outlast, except that you get some weapons. One thing I did find kind of annoying is your captors don't die. So it can be a bit annoying trying to complete tasks while you are being hunted around the house.

I also got lost fairly easily and ended up in the same areas I had already been to. But it's that way on purpose. They want to keep you on edge the whole time and it does just that.

Resident Evil lore wise for the most part has been about elite paramilitary paragons storming zombie enclaves, even going back to the launch games. This is sort of a new direction in that you appear to be a total novice with no experience or survival talent (shaky aim) fighting low level monsters in the RE universe with toothpick weapons. Doesnt feel like an RE game lore wise that way. I just couldn't get into it, quit halfway since I couldn't really sympathize with the characters or even feel like I was playing an RE game.

Occupant Evil 7 on PSVR is an astonishing background, in the event that you cherish frightfulness diversions, THIS is something you need to attempt (As well as Here They Lie, which is likewise very great).

I'm a loathsomeness fan and love amusements and movies, so it takes alot to get to me. Occupant Evil 7 put me in a position where I knew I would go into a region once more, I kicked the bucket, where it would have been extraordinary. I played that range outside of VR, much less demanding on my heart that way. Bunches of hop alarms, sudden things happening, and in VR that dreadful environment wakes up, it's stunning. It frantically makes me wish that Fallout 4 VR could some way or another make it, or that somebody would make a SCIFI diversion that wasnt awfulness, similar to a Deus EX VR amusement for example. A genuine RPG like Oblvion/Skyrim would be welcome as well!.

I never understood this. You know it's not a movie right? It's meant to be 'played/experienced' first hand. You won't get 'into' it watching a video of someone else playing it. Given the type of game it is in fact, I would say this is the worst way to decide if you want to play it or not.

Right I have seen people watch videos of an action game and determine it was boring. Part of an action game's appeal is the battle system and combat. Without playing it you really don't know if it's boring. Maybe the video you watched was played by someone who did t know the nuances and button mashed.

I just watch videos to get a feel of the game. But yeah you can't really judge a game by the videos. The videos I've watched probably weren't the best and just random.

I picked this up on PC. I am enjoying some parts of it, but others are frustrating. The bosses are incredible bullet sponges and if there are tricks to beating them, they are not shown at all and you need to look up the trick or fail a thousand times.

Other than that, it's pretty good imo. Not so much Resident Evil story and lore wise, but it does a good job at being a survival horror game.

My brother bought this for the ps4 so i borrowed it and tried it the other day, i haven't played any of the resident evil games since the first one for the PS1 . I wasn't impressed , way to on the rails type of game for me, good story telling though.

Was it obvious that the game is meant for VR?

Don't waste shots on anything but the head. Don't miss. Conserve ammo.

Not to me, i haven't played one of these games in a long time so didn't know what to expect
I've only experienced it in VR, but the early stuff in the game made it pretty obvious to me.
- The choice to move the series to a first-person perspective.
- Floating corpse pops up in your face.
- Roaches on hand
- Knife in face.
- Getting your own hand chopped off in first-person.
- Dinner table scene (knife in face again).
- Garage encounter *

* I've seen that the garage encounter plays out 2 different ways. The most effective one is when you are in the driver seat, running Jack over repeatedly. Then he disappears. He suddenly rips the roof off the car and grabs the wheel. He tries to steer you into an I-beam and you physically lean out of the way to avoid being hit in the face. Jack takes the hit deliberately and goes unconscious again. The car and Jack's body catch fire and it makes the player wonder if that will finally kill Jack for good. Then he wakes up and attacks you again; still on fire. You shoot/knife him until he goes down again. Looking for a way out of the garage, you start to climb a ladder. Jack grabs you from behind, spins you around and gets right in your face. He grabs your gun while it's still in your hand and deliberately blows half of his own head off to demonstrate that he can't be permanently killed.

The less effective scenario is the one where Jack throws you out of the car and gets into the car by himself. He starts driving around in the garage and deliberately crashes into the rubble, going unconscious and catching himself on fire. ...

All that stuff is super effective in VR and I feel sorry for people that didn't get to experience it that way the first time through.
