I want to burn a CD of a hd and make an exact copy of it, so that I can goto another clean hd, copy everything from cd to hd, and boot to have it just like the other computer. Setting up PC's by hand is very tedious and numbing, can I use Ghost or something to image hd's? arg.

Ghost will work; I've used it before and it was fairly easy to use. There's another program by PowerQuest, I think it's called DriveImage or DiskImage, that I've heard works pretty well also. Just remember that the program can only compress the image so much. If you're trying to image 40GB of data, then the compressed image may still end up being like 25-30GB which is a lot of CDs.

To add to what Shooters said. You can do what you want, but if the hardware is different from machine to machine it won't work.

Oh shiz, thats right. Different hardware, hmmm. useless!!!! What about copyrights and licenses on the software, since you are copying hd's, what happens to those?

Anyway, thanks for info.

Drive Image 4.0 and I believe the new Ghost will both burn directly to CD-RW.

You're right I forgot about the copyright laws. I don't know too much about that, but I would think that one copy per machine would apply.
