I deep fry everything, Hot Pockets are DELICIOUS deep fried, 30 seconds in the microwave, 1 1/2 minutes in the deep fryer @ 350. There are better units but not for the price.

I once moved into an apartment after a woman who used to deep fry EVERYTHING. She also never cleaned her kitchen.

You guessed it, there were grease splatters everywhere. One of the most disgusting things I've ever seen.

Yep, make sure you deep fry OUTSIDE unless you want your place to smell like a fast food restaurant. Deepfrying is also really messy.

it's not messy at all, I put the cover on and cleanup takes less time than cleaning a pan. I deep fry every day and never get oil anywhere. It's also the fastest way to cook things, I try to stay away from foods I can't deep fry it's too much work to cook in a pan or oven :)

Here's some fry-able ideas I saw at the NC State Fair this year (all of these were dipped in batter before frying):

PB&J Sandwiches
Cheeseburgers
Cheesecake
Snickers
Pickles
Oreos
Coca-Cola (mixed with flour, sugar, to make a funel-cake like batter)

I have this:

http://www.amazon.com/T-Fal-FR...ss-Steel/dp/B000AOMA68

It's great for cleanup. Everything except the heating element can go in the dishwasher, and it also drains and filters the oil into its own plastic holding tank. You just flip a switch, and it automatically drains through a screen when it's cool enough. It's a little expensive, but if you want to make cleanup and oil storage easy, this is it.

I have this one: Rival 4.5 Quart

We fry stuff all the time.. and the only time the house smells is when the oil gets old. (at least my experience)

We fry all the usuall subjects, fries, chicken strips/nuggets, tater tots, pizza rolls, etc.

It's probably the kitchen "gadget" we use most, other than the toaster. :)

I have read of similar complaints about the one I use. But I haven't ran into any problems maintaining the set temperature with it. I just make sure to not put too many cold/frozen items in it at one time.

Add pickles to that list. Deep fried pickles are delicious.

i bought a high quality expensive deep fryer from william sonoma

used it a bunch of times. sure - its fun, but i barely use it nowadays... got old quick

now i can fry just as easily using a nice , deep , thick stainless steel chef's pan / saucier / windsor pan.

so, from my experience, you dont need a dedicated frying machine. trying to sell mine
