Anyone deal w/ their warranty yet? how fast is their RMA process?

Just curious, I'll have to get this taken care of soon before my 90 days is up.

Damn... less than 3 months... i wouldn't want a repair or replacement... i'd want my money back. This is yet another reason NOT to buy the PS2.

 
Well, I was starting a new season on Madden2k1 and I'm about 2 mintues into the first quarter and it just stops...

so i restart it...works fine...just figure it locked up or something...no biggie.

Same thing happens again...
at this point I'm worreid...

I try again...same thing....so I go in and play on my computer a while...go back...now it wont even power up.

Hmm...maybe it was just used too long...i'm using a stand to keep it off the floor, so heat isnt a problem. But over the course of its like so far (about 75 days) I've had it running sometimes for whole days at a time...haha....not being played that long, but just having it on because I like to go in, play a few plays, pause it then go back to whatever I'm doing.

So anyhow, 3 weeks isnt to bad, I can live w/ out it that long...at least it happened during warranty period...and I havent installed a mod chip yet 😛 (was going to wait until day 91)

Mine was gone like 2 weeks after I bought it. Been having it on straight for 1 whole week ... I didn't want to return it to the store cuz they didn't have any left for exchange so I sent it back to Sony. Still waiting.

Are you telling me you buy something expecting it to die? And are happy when it doesnt?

Me... if i have something for less than 3 months, no abnormal abuse or wear &amp; tear and it breaks, that says something to me about engineering quality, or the lack therefore.... ESPECIALLY if i paid $300+ for it.

Just my opinion.

Nope. But I have an interesting story...

My lab puppy (1.5 years ago) bit the controller cord while we were playing and screwed up the whole system. We took the playstation, packed that baby back in its original box, and took it back to walmart (who cares that is was a playstation from when they first came out??). We got a new one with dual shock controllers!!!! For free baby. Returned that baby, and said we bought it and it didn't work!!!!

Guess What???? We kept our PS2 Box just in case!!!!😀
 
guyver, nothing is going to have 100 percent success rate.

Whether you're talking about hard drives, processors, tvs, vcrs, toasters...things break...there's nothing you can do about it. There arent a lot of people that I've heard of that have had problems w/ their ps2...so you cant really complain

I'm not the type to call up companies and complain, I just ask that they honor their warranty.

you cant name one single electronic item that hasnt had at least one defect w/ out abuse.

 
Mine has been 100% so far 🙂 Its too bad you two have had bad luck but I think you represent a tiny minority of people 🙁
 
actually he represents a disturbing percentage of people.
I've had 15 different people i know who had their playstation 2s die on them. I've read on other sites about many people stating that their ps2's died on them.
If its a few bad machines, i could understand. But the fact that so many are dying, shows what shoddy engineering it consists of. And for $300.00, you should expect something of quality, not a big paper weight

good luck on the return though 🙂
