US-Canada border isn't too bad if your a resident of either country. If you don't have a passport, bring along an official copy of your birth certificate.

I haven't in the last year, but i went to the US like 2 months after 9/11. Nothing different, not too sure if they still have all those national guards at the airport carrying M16s around. Longer lines maybe, but that's about it.

what they said...bring 2 forms of ID and be ready to be searched if you tell them that you are going to florida. I just got back from a night in Windsor (I am from Michigan) and I only brought my license....didnt have a problem. Just remember whatever you do, dont bring back a stripper from a foreign country if its just her and 3 of your buddies...those a holes at the border seem to have a big problem with that....but thats a different story

Duty free you can get 1 hard liquor bottle, or (I think) 1 case of beer per person over 21.

i went a couple weeks ago. (Niagara Falls, NY, Niagara Falls, ON)

Both ways they asked for a passport. My friend and I both had it so I'm not sure what would of happened if we did not. The exchange rate kinda sucks right now though. On the bright side, we did get a hotel room @ the howard johnson which is in walking distance of the casino for $28 USD. That included $10 of chips at the casino and complimentary breakfast at the Dennys next door (breakfast was horrible).

The time I went before that (March), I think we both used our driver's license without any issues.

I leave for Canada tonight (fly-out fishing trip, w00t!) and I have a passport, as does one of the other four people that are going with us. My dad has his birth certificate, so he should be fine, but I have a friend who doesn't have his birth certificate, and may not be able to get it. Will this be a problem?

I went to canada like 6 months ago from the US, and coming back US border guards asked me all sorts of questions and searched my car. As far as passport, I believe you do not need one if you are a Canadian citizen. At least I didn't need one to get into Canada.

What part of Florida are you going to visit?

i live in a border town... they will ask you for citizenship and where you are going, how long you are staying and if you have anything to declare.

I go from USA-Canada fairly often and have never brought anything other than a drivers license for ID. Birth certificates for anyone who doesn't have a license or are under 18.

I just crossed the Rainbow Bridge into the US last week. You should have 2 forms of id, one with a photo (license) and your birth cerfificate or passport (even an expired one is ok). When I crossed all I was asked for was my driver's license and birth certificates for my children.

FYI - you can't cross using the Whirlpool bridge anymore unless you have some speed pass sort of thing. Getting across the Lewiston bridge may be faster since you won't be dealing with the casino traffic
