My CPR certification ran out and I want to renew. I am having trouble finding a place that doesn't charge a ton (If at all) for it. Where do you guys go? I thought the Red Cross would be a good thing but they referred me to a place that charged the most out of anyone I found.

lil help?

Mine is through work so I don't pay, but I know when I was looking on my own it was fairly pricey.

That's my problem. My last job paid for it and my new job won't. Maybe I'll ask HR to see if they can put a class together. The ambulance is at my job at least twice a month. It wouldn't be a bad idea to have a few people trained.

I get mine done through my employer, but I know there are training centers that will do it for $40~50.

If you need it as a potential job requirement make sure you get the American Heart Association (AHA) version. A lot of employers or schools won't recognize certifications from other providers (including Red Cross).

If you only want to renew so that you know how to save a life, then I suppose it doesn't matter although AHA is usually in the lead with the best research.

And in the case of actually having to do CPR and forgetting everything--see my signature.

I really need to get re-certified. I actually forgot how to do a lot of that stuff. Last week, I almost performed mouth to ass resuscitation. That can't be right.

It runs out? I was certified in High School back in the 90s. I figured it's one of those things that last forever.

Some of the methods change over the years. I know the infant part of the instructions have changed since I did it in high school.

on a more serious note, how much $$ are these places asking for?

in california, most jobs requiring cpr, require first aid and aed training as well. that means you have to physically go to a class, none of that online stuff for me :(

i paid $75 the last time around for a 4 hour class for cpr, first aid, and aed.

I am, but I need to renew. Will probably jump on it in May/June when they come through here.

I get my certification at work as a 1st aid responder so I'm not sure of the cost they pay, but I'm assuming it's not cheap as they hire some 3rd party company to come in.

OP you do have a good idea about talking to HR if they need an ambulance in the building that often. Any idea what types of injuries they are responding to?
