i think commuting to campus is gonna suck. I wish i had a parking spot

my first class is at noon... about 2 hours from now but I'm leaving now so I can relax and look at all the freshman on campus

commuting sucks. for me:

living on campus == A's
commuting == C's and D's

I just can't study when i'm at home, and i've got the grades to prove it 🙁

*edit* and my campus was 10 miles away from home, so it wasn't like i was on the road all day long

That's the complete opposite of me.

I do better when I commute...can't do as well when i'm living on campus. I just can't study at school.

That's why i'm living off campus this year...15 mins away from school..yay.

Technically, I commute, but my apartment is only about 5 minutes from campus. As for parking, they have several lots for commuting students, several of which have buses that run back and forth between the lots and the inner part of campus for classes.

I commuted (20 miles) when I was in school. I feel like i missed out on college life though because of it. I think when I have kids I'm going to try to persuade them to go away to college or atleast live on campus if they want to stay close to home.

I lived on campus for two years, and then lived at home with my parents for the last three years.

It worked out great. I got A's and B's when I was living at home, and my GPA was always less than 2.5 when I was living on campus.

i live 15 minutes away... and yea, it is teh suck. students get the shaft when it comes to parking...

we do not get to park anywhere on the main campus because those spots are reserved for faculty and staff. the only place we can park if we are driving alone is this massive open air parking lot on the far east edge of campus... it's just about the farthest you can get from the classrooms and still be on campus, and it's at the bottom of a large hill (whereas the classrooms are at the top of the hill), so that the mere act of getting to your classes is an adventure. in just about all 3 quarters (autumn, winter, spring), weather is chilly enough in the morning to make you feel like you're rocky and training to fight the russian or something.

the only way to get parking on campus is if you carpool, at which point you get free parking inside a large covered garage. however if you arive later than 8:30 you won't get a spot because they will all be taken up.

the parking department thinks we're fine because we all have bus passes... oh boy!

yea, that's fine and dandy but busses stop running at around 1:30 am, and i routinely (like 4 out of 5 days) stay later than that.

Wuss.

I lived in the dorms last year, and this year I live about 5 miles from campus. I'll be parking in a satellite lot and getting bussed in for free. It's a good way to do it, saves on rent, and I have a much much nicer place to live, and an actual garage to park in.

around 3 hours round trip. 25 minutes of train and ~45 minutes of bus plus waiting time.

sucks esp b/c i can only close my eyes/look out the window or i'd get motion sick

oh well i've been doing this for about 2 and a half years now.
