Ha-ha. I can't even remember the last time I idealized someone. And no, I , atleast, don't think you're gay because of it.

Discipline, Echoplex, Head Down, and Lights in the Sky are pretty good tunes. Demon Seed is ok. The rest seem like acid trips.

Still good, not as good as the 90's stuff, but it's good he's still around. Not much out there today.

NIN Dazzles With Lasers, LEDs and Stealth Screens

http://www.wired.com/entertain...n_show?currentPage=all

For the band's current Lights in the Sky tour, Reznor has not only raised the bar for what's possible in an arena tour, but has also produced what could arguably be one of the most technologically ambitious rock productions ever conceived. Unlike most rock shows, the visuals for about 40 percent of the show (including "Only") aren't pre-rendered. There's no staging, no pantomiming by band members: It's all interactive, live and rendered on the fly.

With more than 40 tons of lighting and stage rigging, hundreds of LED lights, a daunting array of professional and custom-built machinery running both archaic and standard commercial VJ software, three different video systems and an array of sensors and cameras, the tour is nothing if not a lavish display of techno wizardry.

With the song "Only," for instance, the front, convex screen starts out as solid static. On Reznor's side of the display, a laser above him detects whenever he crosses a vertical plane paralleling the screen. On the floor, a piece of tape and two tiny LED lights let him know exactly where that plane is.

As Reznor intersects that plane with his hand or body, the laser tracks his X and Y coordinates. The "brain" box then tells the particles to spread out to a predetermined dispersal pattern. Reznor says: "Then it follows me around. If I leave the plane, it fills back in. If I push through, it comes back out."

lol @ the email trent just sent out:

Hello everyone.
I'd like to thank everyone for a very successful year so far in the world of Nine Inch Nails. I'm enjoying my couple of weeks off between legs of our Lights In The Sky tour and got to thinking... "wouldn't it be fun to send out a survey to everyone that's shown interest in NIN?" Well, that's not exactly how it went, but regardless - here it is. As we've moved from the familiar world of record labels and BS into the unknown world of doing everything yourself, we've realized it would benefit us and our ability to interact with you if we knew more about what you want, what you like, what you look like naked, etc. I know it's a pain in the ass but we'd truly appreciate it if you'd take a minute and help us out. As an incentive, everyone who completes the survey will be able to download a video of live performance from this most recent tour (and I know what's going through your little minds right now: "I'll just grab this off a torrent site and not have to fill out the survey!!!" and guess what? You will be able to do just that and BEAT THE SYSTEM!!!! NIN=pwn3d!!!)
BUT
What if we were to select some of those that DO complete the survey and provide them with something really cool? I'm not saying we'll ever get around to it, but if we did maybe something like signed stuff, flying someone to a show somewhere in the world, a magic amulet that makes you invisible, a date with Jeordie White (condoms supplied of course), you know - something cool. See, you'd miss that opportunity AND be a cheater.
Do the right thing - help us out. You'll feel better.

Thank you and I've had too much caffeine this morning,
Trent

 TR

Hah I love Trent. If only more musicians were like him.

They finally added the Nashville halloween show back to the schedule last week and I scored my tickets. Being an old guy I didn't want the floor and enjoyed the scenery from the club level so that's the direction I went again this year. Funny enough I have the EXACT same seats as last year. No one wants the club level so it's like we have the entire upper deck to ourselves, well other than the other old people too scared to get on the floor.

That Ns1 guy is on crack, Downward Spiral and Broken are great. And The Fragile. Those plus Pretty Hate Machine are what I'd consider the must-haves.

Hey man, I'm just giving an honest opinion.

I bought DWS first and found it hard to listen to, save for the 2 singles off that album (closer/hurt). It's a pretty hard/raw industrial sounding album.

Going at it from the live angle (for me anyway) was alot easier and allowed me to slowly engross myself in TR's work :)

I posted this way before I actually got into NIN

I was just giving you crap ;)
Yeah, I'd say it's his most industrial album. I love it. I suppose I have a different perspective having followed most of his career since I was in junior high.

Stellar, stellar shows. I caught Cleveland @ the Q, with the full stage show. Then @ the Seagate Center in Toledo (5k capacity, couldn't fit the stage show in the venue). Both shows were insane. Catching those 2 shows was a great mix of non-personal psychedelia, and personal in your face ass kicking.

In short, see a NIN show this tour. Doubtful you'll regret it.

Legal torrent of the Toledo show found below

Wow you said the word 'show' a lot.

Hm. Now that you mention it, I did. Typing "concert" takes more keystrokes.

Fort Wayne on Tuesday the 18th, as well. Not sure which is closer honestly. You know, if you are going to CBUS, want to carpool down there?
