Horrible!

I have been sending my 1800T in for repairs after every 3-4 weeks of normal use. It has been in Compaq's possesion longer than my own for the last 2 years! The only way to get any use out of it is to ignore and put up with the defects and hardware malfunctions when possible. Even now, my floppy drive ruins disks and the screen does not turn off when closed. There have been so many problems, I can't begin to list them all! Many times they would send it back, totally unrepaired! Multiple HD crashes, multiple backlight burnouts, multiple power/restarting issues, I can't even begin to list it all!

I hope their newer laptops are more reliable. I'm not going to stop renewing my warranty. Perhaps Compaq will realize that a newer, more-reliable laptop would cost them less $$ in the long-run.

Being a former owner of a 1690, 1920 and 16XL260 Compaq notebooks, I'd have to say I had good experiences through and through.
The 900 Series of notebooks have an issue with USB devices (chipset issue, not compaq's fault other than using said chipset) and I like their 1500 series notebooks. Sleek design, rather sturdy and somewhat light.

Dealing with notebook repair issues was what I did previously. Yes we had a lot of compaq's come in for repairs, but I'd have to say the same about Toshiba, HP and Sony (especially Sony).
All in all, get it from a reputable place that has a no-lemon policy if you do eventually have to repair it numerous times. (hopefully not)
