Currently building a couple of rigs (mostly gaming/multimedia) for our company. We purchase most if not all of our computer items from CDW.

I've been able to find the CPU I like (AMD Athlon 64 3400+ / 2.4ghz) the only other parts I need to find are a motherboard and a Case.

Has anyone bought items like those on from CDW? Anyone tell me if the following cases will work?

http://www.cdw.com/shop/products/default.aspx?EDC=746748

Link to many cases (click on them)

There are quite a few on there, but im looking for something that is cool looking, good Power supply and room for multiple hard drives.

With that, if anyone can find a good mobo on this site that will work with the CPU on CDW?

I trust the experts on this board, far more than I do the "sales men" from that place. :)

I'd recommend buying from Newegg so you have a better selection and much better prices.

For work, I sometimes use CDW but more often I'll use Newegg and Buy.com.

I know what it's like when your company specifies what vendor you have to use.

Those thermaltake cases will work fine. I really like the tsunami dream.

Here's a good Motherboard that will work with a socket 754 CPU MicroStar K8N Neo Platinum

Since this is for work, I might be able to swing buying stuff from CDW, but if not, im stuck with CDW.

Hmm....maybe I could find CPU and motherboard AND price at newegg?

If you have to order through special ways then Newegg probably wont work. I know my school system cant.

I would suggest a dfi board over the Msi though. Probably same price anyway

what kinda case do you guys recommend? Looking at few of them (thermaltakes) and they seem pretty good..i'd like to get one that has a digital display and lets you control fan speed. Lots of room and good cooling are a plus.

its the geek in me!

Any thoughts? Here are a few im looking at

I don't know where your "known" come from, but they don't sell refurbs as new. They have a hugh open box section for open box product at the warehouse pickup section.

Back on topic.
for work go CDW
for personal go newegg

They may have changed recently, I don't know. I don't buy from them any more.

EDIT: And refurb might have been the wrong word. The boxes were open, the products used. They were shipped instead of unopened, brand new items.

Thanks for everyones input guys. Looks like i can get approval for purchasing of items at newegg, which is great as I have more options.

Just wanted to follow up on the cases. Anyone like/recommend the cases I listed previously?

Also, what about a heatsink for the CPU and additional fans? What about some of the cables Thermaltake makes?

Much appreciated.

I've never had any problems with CDW.

One time I bought a digicam from them and they were overpriced. I emailed them asking if they would pricematch antoher site and emailed them the URL. They matched it so I got a great price from what I considered a much more reputable company.

Thats just my experience though.
