I've bought a 1700+ palomino retail several months back for a comp I built
I recently bought a 2400+ retail

I suggest just getting an oem one for 20 bucks cheaper then spending 35 bucks on a good heatsink to go with it

1700+ retail has been AXDA-BOX for some time (T-bred A). Considering the 1700+ B's are all relatively new (week 51), I would give it some time for AMD to retail box the new ones and for retailers to clear out their existing stock. You could always go with an OEM from Newegg and purchase the 1 year warranty for $5.

Does the 1 year warranty cover overclocking burnouts though? or even the retail warranty from AMD?

Not sure about the AMD warranty, but I've read reports that Newegg replaces w/ no questions asked. I've recently dealt with NE RMA (only time I've ever had to) b/c LED headers on two RAID cards didn't work. They RMA'd no questions asked, no restocking, I just had to cover shipment. They cross-shipped the 2nd one as well as the 3ware 7000-2 (which works great). I think Newegg figures you are going to OC, or they simply don't care. You may want to confirm with them though.

It is available on check out. There's a little click box that says "Do you agree about 30 day OEM warranty etc." below that it gives an option for $5 and 1 year through them. I never get it though its probably a good idea, figure my CPUs only need to last 30 days beyond OEM warranty anyways ;) Oh yah, never get the rush shipping option, as long as you order by like 5pm EST, they always ship same day IMO.
