How does this compare to the ipod mini? I'm thinking about getting one and this seems like a cheaper way to go....

Also, is it a lot bigger than the mini?

it's smaller and lighter than an iPod mini. But you don't get the sleek interface.

I'd 'like to get' (read: it's still a rip-off price) a iPod 40 giger.

As for the Muvo2, I think that 50% plus will buy the device just for the Hitachi 4GB micro-drive. Here's a great article about folks with digital cameras cannibalizing the Muvo2 just for the HD. Since the a new 4GB micro drive sold just as a Digital Camera storage device sells for $500, then buying the Muvo2 for around $200 and cannibalizing is a no brainier. But make sure if will actually work for you.

And here is a quick article from Tom's, that for once, isn't confusing or poorly written!

Just thought I'd help.......

just out of curiosity, can you sell the 4GB microdrive and then just put in a smaller capacity compactflash card? like a 256 or 512 MB card?

I wouldn't think so?? The Muvo2 requires a Micro-drive, and I don't see how you could put in a Compact flash card in there as a substitute??

I'm debating between this and the ipod mini. But i think i'll get this because of the smaller size and the cheaper price. It seems like a no-brainer decision.

Well Yaot, then how?? How would you convert a CF card into something the Muvo can see? Are there any utilities out there that will format a new drive for you with the Muvo2 Operating system? I am curious myself.

If you read on Fatwallet.com, it looks like people are using Norton Ghost to make an image of their 4GB drive and then adding a compact flash in htere

the instructions are out there. the microdrive is seen as a cf card, not the other way around.

Creative's website does not list it but if you call them up they'll put you on a list that they call once they get them in stock. I talked to a guy last week when I called and he said they sold out within 20min. Good luck, I may have to go with Amazon since it seems people do get them.

Could you just return the 1Giger microdrive you bought? Then get a Muvo2, at least this would work well in theory.........

I don't own one, but it's flash memory. -> You can't make it skip.

It's also an athletic device, that's one of its features.

it uses a microdrive...it is not flash memory.

and for whoever was asking if you can pop out the 4gb MD and put in a CF, yes you can. it did not work with my no name brand 512MB CF card, but i traded that for a 512MB Lexar CF card, formatted it in the Muvo2 and it works like a charm.

my 10D is loving 4GB of storage space. :D
