Anyone burned a 99 min CD?? Need your input

Theres a CD store here in Monterey Park that sells many many cds and types, my bro saw this 99 min cd, and I was like WTF.

So we bought one to see if they were burnable.

Well in conclusion, Easy CD Creator 5 v.5.10.104 was unsuccessful in burning, said the cd does not have sufficient space, bla bla bla.

So has anyone even seen these? Let alone actually burn one?

Oh and before you say anything, Yes I am back.....

wow, I got you beat in Post Count. Wow, I am a looser.

Only the newest of the burners know what to do with them..

Have you tried using Nero with the newest firmware of your burner?

I don't use Nero, and I believe my burner is pretty old so I guess I'm assed out huh. 🙁

Still waiting to see if anyone has at least burned one.

Cool, you live in Monterey Park too? Haha, schweet, near where? I'm *near* Barnes Park.

I should have worded that differently, we actually went to MP cause I knew of a good CD store as I used to work at that horrific City Hall there. I actually live between Alhambra and S. Pasadena, okay, back to the topic 🙂

if you try using nero, you can specify overburn time options, so, it might be worth looking into.

but you also mentioned that you had an older burner, and sometimes overburning can not only damage the disc and make it unreadable, but it can also damage the burner. im kind of interested though in seeing if this has been successfully accomplished and was able to play the cd without problems.

i got some a long time ago and was unsuccessful in burning them. only certain burners can burn them. mine supposedly could except that earlier i updated my firmware and the new firmware removed that ability.

Yup. Lots. 😀

Sure thing. There's about a snowball's chance in hell you've got a burner equipped to take on a 99 minute disc. 😛

Here's a few pointers for taking those CDs to the wall.

1) Most burners will only handle up to the 90 minute mark. Lucky ones include certain LG models, and any Mitsumi CR-48XX drive.
2) Your software must support the overburning. Nero 5.5.7.8 or better should suffice, as will CDRWIN 4.0A. EZ-Coaster Creator will not.
3) Be careful of speeds. Try low speeds first, and work your way up. I mean seriously low - like 1x or 2x.

That having been said - don't forget to slap that "overburn" tag on, and go for three digits. 😀

- M4H's "personal best" is 100 minutes, 34 seconds - 0wn3d!

Thanks for all the replies, here's a little update:

My bro threw in the blank cd in his machine and out came that window asking what to do with the CD.
He has Real One (real audio) installed in his machine and was available in the listing of what to do with the blank CD.
Conclusion: Real One was able to burn the 99 min cd, but didn't have 99 mins total to burn, more like 92 or 94. He has a new burner, weird brand but new. Optorite if anyone cares to know.
