Anyone bought the Norton AV 2002 Upgrade?

Have ordered the boxed version of the 2002 upgrade, I have an oem of 2001 and will be installing 2002 on XP when my copy arrives.

How will I install the 2002 upgrade, will it just ask for my 2001 serial, or will i need to install 2001 first (hope not)

in my experience with norton antivirus' older editions, the "upgrade" just means that i get a rebate for having an older version. the software is always "full" so you should not even need a serial or whatever, unless it is for a rebate form. i could be wrong on this latest version tho.

well the upgrade was cheaper than the non-upgrade so it must need some proof of an older version.

just to let you know that I downloaded the 2002 v4 upgrade of NIS for $39 that has NAV 2002 upgrade in it and it was the full version, even though I had my 2001 v3, cd at the ready it never even asked for it. so you'll be ok.

with the cut-throat competition for NIS/NAV products on the market and the run for the most clients at any cost and any type of dollar revenue they can get their hands on, they really don't seem to care if you get the Full or Upgrade version. The last thing they want to do is to Pee you off and have you goto the competition specially after buying 2001 v3. So I think that they don't really care if the upgrade or the full versions are the same anymore as long as you buy theirs. Unlike Microsoft there is heavy competition that makes them do things like this. It's my guess that the full version will be $39 by the end of the year anyway. Just my opinion.

yeah but the download upgrade (on the uk site anyway) you have to enter your 2001 serial before u can buy.

I downloaded it from the U.S. site and I live in Canada, I just went there and tried it, you don't have to put anything in there anyway, it's just a bogus field, it pretends that you need a previous version to go forward which you don't, I think it's just to scare people away who don't have a previous version. just click on the buy upgrade and you're in. It was cheaper downloading it and saved on the GST/PST on top of that.

I have to admit that they don't really advertize it they would more like to sell you the full version of course. It's just a small link on the bottom right.
