Well i just ordered this Mobo acompanied by a Athlon 64 3500+ Winchester Core Processor and twin XMS 2cls Corsair memory. My problem is that after ordering it i read a problem that the mobo has with the Winchester Core processors, it needs to have the 1007 revision bios on to be able to recognize the Winchester Processor. So my question is has anyone bought this mobo from newegg lately and if so could u tell me the bios rev on the board? So i know if i have to order a new bios from asus or not.. Thanks

I ordered it about a week ago and installed 3000+ Winchester without any problems. Currently Overclocked to 3500+ level, 2.2 GHz. It also came with 1006 but i now have it flashed with 1007 bios

1008 is working great after the CMOS was cleared and I could boot into Ez Flash for the bios flash routine. Mine came with 1005 which gives everyone here a boot problem and a CPU fail voice warning.

I have a 3400+ 939

Apparently if you put a memory module in just the DIMM_B1 slot, you can get it to run enough to update the BIOS. Since I typed this up for someone else already, here's the links and info on updating using the "traditional" method, although it's not the only one:

Look at the BIOS chip on your motherboard, which is located here (that's a close-up of the bottom-right corner of the board). It'll have a sticker on it. Is there a number such as 1004 or another 100x number on there, and if so, what is it? If it isn't at least 1007 then you'll want to update it.

One way to update the BIOS is to download the DR-DOS 7.x boot-floppy maker and make a boot floppy, then put Asus's A8V BIOS-update utility on the floppy too, and lastly, download the Zip file containing the latest BIOS (looks like the China link is the only working one). Extract the BIOS from the Zip file, and put it on the floppy too.

Now boot from the floppy, wait for the A:\ prompt, then type AFUDOS.EXE to run the update utility. The utility will probably ask if you want to save the old BIOS on the floppy, and then asks for the name of the new BIOS, which would be A8V1008.ami for the 1008 BIOS.
