I've been working on a network remote control for iTunes. Anyway, I've got a beta version of it available now.
Download it here.
It requires java. If you don't have it, you can get it from Sun.

If you run it, hit "open" and put "notfred.homeip.net" in the servername box, and "5151" for the port.

That will connect you to my machine, and you'll be able to control what I listen to.

This is really more useful on a LAN, but this might be fun, too :)

I tested it on win2k and OS X w/ the newest version of Suns JVM, and it looked fine on both.

If it isn't worknig, it'll give you a "can't connect to server" error when you try and hit play or skip a track.

"Server not responding"

I am on DSL and my router acts as a firewall if that makes any difference

Make sure you set the servername and port correctly, it seems to be working for someone, cause my music is randomly pausing on me :)

having 4 people across the country controlling music that they can't hear is.. odd :)

You could see how it'd be nice on a LAN, though.

What does it require on your end to be able to do this?

Very cool program, I would like to mess around with it. :)

It requires iTunes (and therefore a Mac), and a small server script I wrote.

If anyone wants to port the server to winamp or something, I'll send you the source. :)

I only started writing it yesterday, it's got a ways to go before I'd call it done :)
