If I had a bike and didn't live 25 miles from work, I probably would be riding ;).

I am waiting for them to open up one road out here before I start. As it stands right now, it would be about a 30-40 mile ride because of detours. Once they punch the new road through it should only be about 7.

I don't think so, because one of the follow things will happen on my way to work riding a bicycle.

1) Get jack by a brutha.
2) Get run over by a SUV.
3) Get under a bus.

Not really. I have too much stuff happening this week. next week everything will slow down and I plan to start commuting (16 miles each way) by bike again.

If I had a motorcycle, then I'd bike to work.

But it's a 43 mile ride to work and I'm really not up for killing myself.

30 miles to daycare to drop my kid off and then 10 miles to the office? No thanks.

Yeah, I can't ride in more than twice a week because I have to pick my son up on alternating days. My wife likes to go to the gym so we share that duty.

No problem there are bikes out there where they help you pedal! You would save enough money by the time your child is 18 that the money you saved could pay for all of college is one single drop!

There are bikes with seats the bike or one where two or more people can pedal.

My son is 4 years old and my road bikes don't have any braze-ons for a rack.

There are a lot of racks you can put on bikes very easily anywhere.

I work from home. I guess I'll put a bike in my bedroom so I can ride to the home office. the stairs should be fun, I'll let you know how it goes.

Not too long ago I bicycled to work every day. I always arrived cheerful and feeling awake.

Now I live 50 miles from work (job switch), telecommute four days a week, and on the fifth drive in and arrive cranky and irritable. I'd ride instead of drive (well, with the help of mass transit) if I could figure out a route that didn't scare me. Streets around my office in Santa Clara either go nowhere or are huge wide expressways with bicycle deathtraps (entrance and exit ramps) galore.

It's annoying that there are decent routes to get close to work but I haven't figured out a way though the last ~5-10 miles. My friends that have tried have all gotten hit by cars. (Car driver: I didn't see you. My friend: How could you not see me? I was wearing bright neon colors and seven lights!)

There was a Bike Awareness program for the month of April at Virginia Tech...ended up riding about 100 miles over the month just b/c I rode my bike about 6 miles a day when I had classes and such.

You need to stand up for your rights. You can't be scared.

I'd like too (just got a new bike), but there are too many idiot drivers on the road, and the streets in my city aren't bike friendly at all :(
