Anyone benched a 7800GTX with an Intel processor?

Since it's pretty well-known that at the moment AMD processors are better for gaming than Intel ones, all of the reviews I read only had benches on an AMD system. Due to certain connections, I can get Intel processors for free, so my systems are all Intel-based. (Nice as AMD processors are, it's hard to beat an infinite price/performance ratio. ;))

I'm curious what sorts of scores I can expect out of my BFG 7800GTX when I put it in my 3.6Ghz Prescott system. If no one really knows, I'll post benches Wednesday or Thursday when I get my card and have the time. :)

Heh, no kidding. I think I'm the only Intel gamer left on the planet. Still, in case there are more of us hiding under rocks somewhere, I'll be sure to post some benchies so people at least know what to expect!

Maybe the 7800GTX somehow awakens some hidden power in the Prescott.....! yeah, okay, maybe not. ;)

I have a P4. Just not one worthy of a 7800.

yup it should be around there somewhere. Intel's performance is not bad, its just that AMD's is a lot better.

Can u also get Pentium M 770s and ASUS CT-479 Adapter kits 4free? =)
If so, take 1 and make it FSB175 x 16 = 2800 MHz (FX-57 clock) and see which processor really is da boss when it comes 2 gaming.
However, when using a 7800GTX or even 2 of em, ANY non OC desktop processor will limit in some benches.

Xentropy, In that test other day the 7800GTX SLI with AMD 4800 X2, they tested it also on 1x GPU and the bottleneck was the CPU, that top of the range dual core AMD64 couldnt max the 1 7800GTX GPU (nevermind the SLI set up), so INTEL has no chance with any of their CPU's even the renamed desktops (with caches party dissabled)made from Zeon server cpu's.

" I also seem to remember some wanker(s) trying to slag me few months ago cause i said more and more new games unlike years ago are CPU dependant aswell as GPU, hmm plenty of threads and proof on it lately"" I rest my case. ;)

Ycon has the right idea. Use those connections to finagle a Dothan, Xen. Then post how you're running SLIed 7800s as well as an A64, but on a 250W PSU. ;)

Well in all my time here at the forums I thought I would never hear that, however, I agree with you completely.

People call intel crap, but lets compare them to that of cyrix, via, or transmeta processors.... Now that's bad.

If anything, it's gonna awaken the hidden frying pan.

Phuh, hidden, right? Wink? Winkelly-wink?

HTPC perhaps where silence was needed. Surely they have a decently powered cpu which is fanless.

Unfortunately I can never manage to get any Dothans. I think they sell those as fast as they can make them, unlike Prescotts.

I'd like to thank certain morons for coming and turning this into another Intel-bashing thread. That was exactly my intention. Yes Intel isn't as fast right now, but the rhetoric is getting pretty tired.

Now some genuine thanks to those that posted links to reviews using P4's. That gives me a general idea what to expect! :) (And gee, the 7800GTX is significantly faster than the 6800 Ultra even on an Intel processor. Guess they don't go together so poorly after all.)
