Besides lots of really hot women and even hotter gambling, what's the local attractions like?

I'm thinking about taking a trip down there sometime soon, not for the gambling or anything like that. I'm going to totally geek out and check out all the cool attractions like the Star Trek exhibits, the theme parks, some of the shows, and various things like that. :)

Anyone know some good places to check out? Places that a true geek/nerd would be interested in?

Check out a magic show. I went to one and it was one of the best things I've ever been to. I don't remember the name of the magician I saw, but he was really awesome, and I'd imagine a good deal of them are..

they're all ads for strippers.

go see magic shows: lance burton(monte carlo) or penn and teller(rio).

you can go see wayne newton or see if tom jones is in town.

there's always cirque du soleil - there's o at the bellagio and mystere at treasure island.

celine dion is opening soon at caesars palace.

go play games at circus circus or go to their theme park.

there's a "shark reef" at mandalay bay that's pretty darn cool... lots of fishes.

that's just off the top of my head. :)

You should try the Atlantis Adventure ride thing. That was pretty fun. Can't remember what casino it was in though. And if you want some entertainment try the Aladdin. Last time I was in vegas(a few months ago) there were these guys singing motown and stuff upstairs. They were freakin HILARIOUS. You can just go sit up there(there's a bar) and hang out.

Food, my man, food! Vegas is the land of the all-you-can-eat buffet. Last time I was there, the Rio had one of the best.

I also recommend the magicians - Lance Burton and Penn & Teller. Went to go see Lance when he was back at the Hacienda. My Bro and I gave a big tip to the usher, who then sat up right up front and center, where like it or not, you're likely to be part of the show.

I like some of the museums, The Sign Graveyard and Liberace (hey, I'm a pianist, and I have to pay homage to the legend! ;) )

Also, although I haven't seen him in Vegas, Danny Gans is supposed to be great. If you've ever seen him, he's one of the greatest living impersonators *ever*. However, the tickets in Vegas are quite expensive ($90 the last time I was there).

Clubs (no, not *strip*) are cool if you're into that sort of thing. Well, the strip clubs are kinda cool too, but hold onto your wallet ! :D

you should go see Mac King at Harris, he is a comedian/magician. He is really fun to watch, and you can usually find a coupon to see him for free but have to buy one drink for around $8.

My picks:

Star Trek Experience - Las Vegas Hilton. Even if you're not a Trekkie it's still one of the coolest attractions in Vegas. I make it a point to hit it up every time I go.

Cirque Du Soleil "O" - Bellagio. Well worth the $90-120 ticket price. Simply breathtaking performance.

Cirque Du Soleil "Mystere" - Treasure Island. Not as elegant as O but still impressive and very much worth seeing.

Blue Man Group - Luxor. If you like offbeat performances, comedy, or percussion, this one is great. One of my favorites.

Deja Vu - Lil' Darlings. Bring your ID. One of the better places to check out scenery. Much better than the overhyped Crazy Horse Too or Olympic Gardens IMO.

Ra - Luxor. Nightclub. Very cool. Hard to get in unless you're staying at the hotel.

Indoor skydiving. Yes, they have indoor skydiving at Vegas. Very unique experience. Look it up in the phone book, there's only one place AFAIK.

Forum Shops - Caesar's Palace, Bellagio. Both have very high end shops worth browsing.

For pure partying, check out the Rio. Great floor show, fun atmosphere, lots to eat.

My Picks

Fire FULL AUTOMATIC weapons - its somewhere in Henderson, NV. You are shooting 50 cents every bullet, sorta like playing a slot machine but you win much satisfaction
Crazy Horse Too - A bit crowded, but its great.
Lance Burton - Monte Carlo - Good stuff

Nightclubs
Rumjungle - Decent club in Mandalay Bay, but its nothing compared to RA
RA - hard to explain, just get a room at Luxor and experience it
