I went home last year after being in the US for 10 years, I was shocked. I grew up in Manila and the whole place changed, billboards, malls, everything looked dirty and congested. It kind of reminded me of the scene from blade runner.

The country side is still beautifull.

Boracay---very nice beach, lots of things to do, lots of places to eat, its little bit touristy but the beaches are still very nice (powder white, water crystal clear). Try to go in January to febuary not so hot and not oo many tourist.

Ananyana Beach resort (Bohol)--not a swimming beach but great for diving

Palawan--nice beach, spmewhat expensive

If you want to see poverty, look up "smokey mountains" if its still there. Its a huge trash dump where there is actually a comminutiy living in to scavage thru the trash.

Excelent food in manila and very cheap your dollar will go a long way.

I want to see both the poverty and the beauty.

The poverty will reinforce to me how great my life is. I am very fortunate that I have never had to go without a meal in my entire life.

I want to see the beauty to reinforce how great my life is. I am fortunate enough that I can get to see beautiful things.......
