Anyone been to Tahiti?

Well I have narrowed down my place of vacation for this summer (hopefully i will have enough $$$ ) and I believe it will be Tahiti. I was doing some research and it looks like i MIGHT be able to afford it.

But before I get too excited I was going to ask people on here if they had ever been there. If you have been there before, where did you stay, how long where you there, how much $$ was the hotel, and about how much spending money did you need? I am just asking all of this so I can try to figure out if I will have enough money and about how much to bring with me. And Tahiti looks awesome!!

Tahiti is awesome, but I can't tell you about how much it costs because my parents took me and footed the bill.

Do you remember what hotel you stayed at or where it was exactly located?

I was so in the back seat there, unfortunately, so I don't remember. It was a hotel built off the side of a cliff, and the first floor was at the top of the cliff and the numbers increased as you went down (funny the details you remember).

Just at the bottom of the cliff was a black sand beach.

I ended up meeting a group of scuba divers who sort of adopted me, I went on 3 dives with them. I would have gone on more if I didn't have to fly soon, and if I didn't get kind of freaked out by the sharks. But if you're into diving then I can't stress enough how awesome it is. A little ways out there's this absolutely stunning dropoff, where the bottom of the ocean just disappears.

I'm sorry I can't tell you more about where I was though, we went from there to New Zealand and there were just too many details to remember!

i went there on a cruise a few years ago... my favorite island was morea...

if you make it to morea, definitely check out the Sofitel (i think it's called)... awesome hotel/bungalow things over the water....

brought about $600 cash, used about half of it the entire trip, but mostly cuz we did most of the stuff thru the cruise thing...

I'm interested in going there this summer too (or maybe Fiji ...flooded right now though). Any more comments/experiences?

Beautiful bu extreeeeemly boring. If you go there to just plain relax, it's fine. Nightime activities suck. Go to Hawaii for a better day/night balance (i.e. Oahu).
