Anyone been to Hawaii? Need some lodging tips....

I know there has to be at least several people who have been to hawaii on this board. Me and about 3 other friends will be going, we dont mind sharing a room, preferably two beds...

Anyone have any tips? Hotels are bloody expensive, and I dont mind living in something other than the lap of luxury.

Anyone know of hostels? Renting out rooms at U of H? Time shares? Beach side shacks?

Flights I am grabbing off of travelocity and its ilk.

This hostel isn't too bad. It's clean and alot of fun, its like college dorm life all over again 😉

It's in Waikiki about 1 block from the beach. Let me know if you have any other questions, i stayed there a few weeks before I found my apt.

Hotels are NOT that expensive, especially if you go to Oahu. Grab an Entertainment book before you go and you get 50% off the rack rates off of several hotel rooms. When my gf and I went, we only paid $55 a night for a 3-star hotel. Was very similar to a Marriott.

There are 2 hostels in Waikiki. The one jorken mentioned is more for younger folks and bit rowdy. The other one is up by the University. It's a tad quieter and they are a bit more rigid with their noise rules. Both are clean/decent places to stay.

I would vote you stay at either of the hostels over a hotel (regardless of bargains). At the hostels you will get to meet folks from all over the world. It isn't the same as meeting someone at a hotel. It is unique.

Have fun! 🙂
