Anyone been to a live WWE event?

I just won two tickets (2nd row) to a September WWE Monday Night Raw event, and wondered if it is worth going. I don't watch wrestling on TV, but figure if I was ever going to see it live, this is the one to go to. It could be fun, in a circus-like way - as much from people watching as the actual entertainment. So, if anyone has been to one let me know what you thought, if it was worth going to, all that jazz.

Edit: Yes, I know it is scripted, so that isn't an issue. And I used to watch it some in the past. just not so much lately. Used to love me some JYD, Sgt. Slaughter, etc.

Here come all the haters. Yes it's fake and we know it's fake. Watching reality shows are worse than watching wrestling cus at least wrestling knows it's fake and reality shows and the people that watch them think they are real.

Anywho I watch WWE all the time and have gone to many live events. I enjoy it so of course I'm ganna say it was awesome but if you've never seen it then I don't know what to tell you. If you got free tix then why not go? You can experience something that many people don't.

Hmm... seems like 90% of being interested in the WWE is following the "storylines" and caring about the characters and what happens to them. Otherwise its just random doped-up guy running around with another random doped-up guy.

I would sell it and go do something else with the money

I know a lot of women that love watching wrestling.

I have always found that to be weird.

I wouldn't go for free. Neffing on ATOT is more entertainment than that is.

Professional wrestling is far worse than reality TV.

That's laughable at best. Reality TV is so horrible I don't know how any of you watch it. It's more fake than wrestling is.

If you don't watch it, then you'll be bored. There's no commentary like on TV.

I've been to several (twice on the front row) and I had a blast. ...but I watched it weekly and knew what was going on...

I've been and its awesome. The presentation is second to none. It's really, really loud (way more than you expect) but is a very, very good time.

I'd say go, if you've ever been remotely interested in it. You might not know what's going on storyline wise, but you'll still enjoy it.

I really enjoyed the WWE back when Austin, The Rock and Triple H were the three big things; Mick Foley would put up some impressive performances (and take some pretty brutal beatings) and The Hardy Boys/Dudleys/Edge & Christian would do all those insane things in tag-team matches. The Rock in particular was one heck of an entertainer.

I remember trying to get back into it a few years ago but as incredible and ridiculous as it sounds, it seemed like they really jumped the shark. But yeah, I'd probably still go. It might have become over-the-top-times-infinity loonier and more bizarre than ever but I imagine there might still be a few compelling athletes (or performers if you prefer) that might make it worth it.

you won tickets, just go.

I was really into wrestling about 10 years ago, back when the rock, stone cold, and mick foley were the big names. I got to go to wrestlemania and it was awesome. It has really gone way downhill since then.

It might had been worth it back when it was WWF with Hulk Hogan, the giant, and Macho man but not now it seems. :(

I watched it awhile ago and was surprised to find out that Jeff Hardy was still alive. The dude is a fucking maniac.

I'm with you and you have two options:

1. Go. It's free. Just like a concert, lights & music will be VERY loud and immersive. I reckon it can't be that bad, and at free, just go for experience.

2. Sell tickets and buy MMA/UFC tickets instead. Go enjoy yourself to some real knuckle launching. Or just keep the money.

God I feel old. I was super into WWF as a grade schooler back in Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior, Andre the Giant, Snake, Mr. Perfect, Million Dollar Man and the classic Undertaker.

I still vividly remember as 10 & 11 yos rushing to watch the latest VHS episode of WWF at a friend's house and enacting wrestling at the lawn etc... so much fun.

Meh I guess this is where I condescend and say I loved wrestling when I was 10. Not in my teen or college years.

I think I still have some of those vhs tapes somewhere with those guys.

I wonder if they still work.

I still remember all the thrills as a kid. Hulk Hogan had his invincible mode right? If he gets too pissed off, he just shakes off punches and proceed to kick ass. I think the big drama with him was that he was undefeated at all times until they finally make him lose for the big climax/viewership/$$$.

I was a HUGE fan of Ultimate Warrior. Everyone had their super-fun trademark moves... Hulk with his scissor drop kick, Snake had his DDT head plant, Mr. Perfect had his suplex mount that'd trigger countdown...

Did WWF/E get better than that after those years? How does this compare to Austin/The Rock/Triple H/Cena days? (Never followed after early 90s)

COPS! is reality TV, and almost solely features subjects you would find as fans of WWE.

Personally, I wouldn't go if I was getting paid, let alone for free. I don't see how it can be entertaining so I recommend selling the tickets :p
