Well, mine is up this year and we are having a 3 day event. I'm not too sure if I really want to go. I hang out with the same people that I did and don't really care to see the rest. I also really really don't want to go because my wife will see some ex-girlfriends of mine that she just can't stand and I really really don't feel like getting harrassed over something so silly. Maybe I might just go to the "ice breaker" on the friday night and maybe the "family day" which is on a Sunday.

Anybody else have this coming up this year?

I skipped my 5 year reunion. I figured, the people I was friends with in High School, I'm still friends with, and I don't care to see the rest of em.

What an irony! This thought came into my mind just this morning. Oh my God! I calculated my reunion period 'cuz I thought it was interesting how fast time flew. My sis' is next year, and I will be asking her if she'll be attending it next year. From what she's said in the past, she will be attending it. She's got a lot to show off for, so I say more power to her.

As for me, I still have enough time left. I'm debating whether it's worth it. I would like to know what became of some really nice and cool friends, but I'll also like to know what became of the jerks. If things work out as planned, then I will more than likely attend it. If not, I think I have better things to do than see my former classmates of [by then] 10 years ago. The problem here though is most of my friends or the jerks I knew were in classes of a different year.

Edit: For clarification: my high school reunion is not this year. I've got a lot of time left (years, years); though, at the speed of time now, I'm afraid it might soon show up as if it were tomorrow.

Funny you mention that. Out of the group I hung out with in high school, most of the people are still living with their parents just hangin out at the local bars like we did when we were younger and most have no careers going on for 'em. Since I graduated high school, I finished college, got married, have a child and just purchased a house not too long ago. I have a few friends who did the same thing but most are still bummin around.

I went to mine a couple years back. My class was about 800 people so there were tons of people I didn't really know back then. It's funny that the 10th year reunion is like the show off reunion because people are alot more established than their 5th year.

Mine was fun though, I got hit on by my friend's ex-girlfriend. Too bad I was taken.

I went to my 15 year H.S reunion. A lot of the hot chicks were not so hot anymore. Everybody showed pictures of their kids. I don't have any children myself, thus I felt a bit left out. Apparently some of the women are still stuck in the late 70s' with the feathered hair.

Haha. Most of the hot chicks that had the nice bodies are kinda fat now too! One chick lucked out and married this dude who got to play in the NFL but other than that.

We were supposed to have our 10th last year. The "class committee" had plans set out and had hired a reunion company (Taylor Reunions) to handle all the details. The whole thing collapsed due to lack of interest. The reunion location was only 5 miles from my house so I couldn't complain about the location, but it was way overpriced: $95 a head...mainly because they stupidly decided to have a 4 hour open bar (I try not to drink). Later they decided to toss the open bar and drop the price to $70, but still nobody cared. Frankly, I hated the fact that the reunion was supposed to be black-tie formal. Yuck! I just want to show up in street clothes because that's comfortable and real. But then again, reunions are full of fake people claiming fake lives and a black-tie event goes along perfectly with this.

I am somewhat amused that my class didn't do squat. I hated high school, I hated the people and it looks like everybody else did, too!

I guess my 10 year HS reunion is supposed to be scheduled sometime in August, but I'm not sure if I'll go. I really haven't kept in touch with anybody from highschool, although it would be kind of cool to see some people again. I just don't know if it's worth the time and trouble of going 600 miles and whatever the reunion will cost. Guess I'll just have to wait and see.

i graduated in 1978. :)

i haven't been to any of my reunions. i think the whole thing is weak. first of all, there were about 400 kids in my graduating class. i wouldn't know 90% of them. secondly, i think it can be like a beauty/popularity contest. the reunion organizers at my school were all the popular kids, the cheerleaders, jocks, clubbers (kids who join all the afterschool clubs). it's just a big clique, only with old people now. i'm not the same person i was all those years ago. we were all kids. high school wasn't that fun for me, either. i had moved in the middle of my junior year so i never really felt comfortable. that's just me.

i saw one of my old HS sweethearts at the store last year. man, time had not been kind to her. there's a big difference between 17 and 40. we talked for a little bit. it was uncomfortable. "what do you do, where do you work?" "how many kids do you have?" "what kind of car do you drive?"

i wouldn't want to go to a reunion having to answer all those questions over and over.
