anyone at UCLA uses DSL Extreme???

if so, how's the service and what package did you get and what's the actual speed? Thanks. Oh and what's the difference between DSL Extreme and Verizon if DSL Extreme rent their lines from Verizon?

it would probably be exactly the same speed wise. but dsl extreme will probably be using their own dns servers, etc.


i use mindspring dsl over verizon currently (well for the next 5 days or so until my lease ends) and its pretty good. speed wise it isnt nearly as good as roadrunner cable but yeah its decent.

are you living in the westwood area? if so, what speed are you getting from Mindspring dsl and how much are you paying for it? I am using Case of Command right now as my isp and the speed right now is freaking slower than a modem!

i'm south of wilshire on veteran. i've seen speeds on kazaa as high as 140k/sec. case of command sucks, it uses homepna or something through a single t1 on an entire building, bunch of my friends had it, its just straight horrible. plus no way to get around the firewall on that.



the only thing that could possibly be bad about dsl extreme, is if their dns servers crash, well you should ask others how often that happens. mindspring, occasionally we'll have a 1-2 hours outage (maybe every 3 weeks, its gotten better as the year has gone on)
