Hello,

I receieved a Motherboard and Duron 600 that was supposed to run pretested at 900 MhZ. WEll I can't test wither just becasue I don't know if the CPU is broke or the Motherboard. The system won't post I checked all other components. RAM, Video Card, and HDD .

What I need is someone to help me test the Duron that I have becasue if the the duron posts in their system the I know that the CPU is goo and the Motherboard bad.

I will ship the duron to you and then you test it and ship it back to me the same day. if its broke I will have to get a new one. If not :) that's good :) I will have to RMA the motherboard

Thanks for all your help,
Krueger81

P.S.: I am willing to pay for shipping.
P.S.S.: I am also going to include and FOP32 for testing that has to be shipped back with the duron ...

you should offer to pay the shipping obviously i'm thinking someone will do it. Personally i'd do it if i wasn't so afraid of breaking the core on my tbird 800. Its much more likely that your m/b is dead though.

You may have already tried this, but did you try and see if it would boot with no cables plugged into the IDE or floppy ports on the mobo with only the video card plugged in? a bad or reversed cable could cause the problem.
I would be careful and supply a heatsink along with the Duron if someone ends up testing it for you. Some heatsinks are a b1tch to install, and if someone has one like that, your core may get chipped by accident and you will not be able to return it. You would probably be better off finding a store close by that has a no questions asked return policy, purchase a cheap Duron, try it, and return it if it works.

first of all you should ask if there's anyone that's close to you. There should be plenty of people that live close to you. How far is Lincoln from Chicago? Second are you gonna pay shipping?

Run the processor at 6X (i.e. 600mHz), boot into the CMOS, set voltage to 1.8-1.85 volts. Save settings. Boot into your OS, then shutdown. Change the multiplier to 9X (i.e. 900mHz) and save settings.

If the cpu can handle 900mHz then it should post and away you go.

-paldo is right. On a board this large there has to be several members who live nearby you. Put out the word and you're sure to get hooked up with one of them. I've met four members of our online community in person and each time was a pleasure. I'm sure someone will help you.
