My allergies take me out of commission so much I'm considering moving to another city. I live in Austin, TX which I've heard referred to as the Allergy capitol of the Universe. But I can't move until school is finished which is about 1.5 years away but I'm so sick and tired (pun completely unintended) of having allergies. Nothing's worse than when my allergies eventually lead to an infection and suddenly I'm really sick and totally out of commission. I really wish I could live in one of those Intel Clean Rooms.

I currently take Zyrtec and I just started taking allergy shots a few months ago. The Zyrtec helped a lot at first, but either I'm getting immune to it or something like that, or it just can't deal with the latest pollen blast in Austin this time of year.

Has anyone REALLY tackled their allergies or their kid's allergies? I'm talking everything. Hypo-allergenic pillows, expensive air filters, air purifiers, allergy shots, putting in hardwood floors instead of carpeting, a super-vaccuum to clearn your carpets, etc? Has anything really made a big difference?

i take a pill every morning/night for allergies. Also have an air filter in my room. I don't get shots, because the last time i had to get shots for school (couple years back), two nurses and a doctor had to wrestle me down

claritin works better for me than zyrtec

i did the allergy shot thing, all the way up to maintenance... no noticeable relief

generally speaking, they do seem better here in DC than they did in Austin though

I used to use Claritin but I liked Zyrtec better. Neonerd, are you using 12 hour pills? Or are you using 24 hours pills, once in the morning, once at night? I'd imagine 12 hour.
