Anyone actually like Subway?

I don't mind their subs - eat them quite regularly since they are right by my house. They aren't great but they'll do.

One thing I forgot to mention; I think the reason I enjoy their tuna subs so much is they are one of the few places which does not use some sort of weird sweet mayo. I just had a BLT from a local sandwich shop and the mayo they used was really sweet. Freaking nauseating. D:

This thread wormed its way into my subconscious so I walked across the street and waited in a huge line for Subway today. 6" buffalo chicken on honey oat with onions, tomatoes & ranch.

When I was a kid, KMart used to have a smallish deli and sub counter. Once every couple weeks, my father would stop on the way home from work and pick-up KMart subs. Those were luncheon meats; bologna, pimento loaf, and I think salami and cheese, some lettuce and tomatoes. I'd probably gross out now, but my parents ate them, too. But then, this was back when people ate when they were actually hungry. Everything tastes better when you're hungry.

I do too but I went to Panera the other day and paid 6 bucks for half a panini that was tiny as fuck. Never going there again.

Something about tuna salad that I'd never order it in a restaurant, even a Subway. I always have tuna in the cupboard, always have mayo, celery and onion in the fridge. Takes about two minutes to make. Maybe it's just because I eat it at home fairly regularly.

On the other hand, I don't usually have turkey breast or ham or roast beef, etc. If I order a turkey breast sandwich at Subway, or an Italian or a hot pastrami someplace else, it's because I probably haven't eaten one in many months.

I usually do have those things on hand as well, but these days I am rarely at home and Subway is right below my work, so it works in a pinch an if I am eating Subway, 75% of the time I am eating the tuna.

I ate one everyday for a week. I'm even allergic to tomato. Dunno... seemed fine.

The more you heat the tomatoes the less it bothers me and they sit there and stew at high temp probably 24/7.

I think Subway is fine. I mean... the food is nothing that I would phone home over, but I don't think I've ever eaten a bad sub there. I've tried a few other fast food-ish places like Jersey Mike's and Jimmy John's, which aren't too bad either. I'd like to find a place close by that makes a good cheesesteak, but I'm asking quite a bit being 800 miles away from Philly. Although, I heard that the Philly Connection wasn't too bad, but the one in town closed up.

Their prices went way up this month and they got they got rid of the $5 footlong altogether. I sometimes found myself trying a different kind of sub and expanding my horizons a little because of the footlong they were running on a special each month was so cheap. Too bad.

The higher end cost footlongs only went up a little, but the lower cost cold ones went up a couple bucks. Probably not worth it anymore, for the level of quality they provide. We're talking $7.50 for a plain old ham and lettuce here.

I knew something was different when I stopped in the other day for a meatball sub. The 6 inch was $4 plus tax. They got rid of the sub of the month thing in which I paid $3.75 with tax for the sub of the day. $5 with chips and soda.

Back when it was cheap, I liked it. Now that they've significantly jacked up their prices, I don't step foot in there. Plus I avoid carbs wherever I can so that keeps me out of there as well.
