Anyone actually filed a claim on a Surge supressor failure?

My monitor was out cold due to a power outage.
It was plugged into a TrippLite surge supressor.
The monitor is still under warranty, so the cost of the reimbursement should be the shipping cost at $30.
Do you think I have a chance on getting Tripplite to pay me that money?
I left a message in their service department already, but I am wondering if my time will be worth spending arguing with them later.

Had a friend get 2 modems cooked even though the phone line went through a surge suppresor. They replaced both, and the surge suppresor, no questions asked.

Tripp-Lite has been around a long time, they and APC are the oldest I know of, so odds are good that they'll live up to their obligation.

Is the surgeprotector broken too? I'd find it odd that the monitor got damaged and the surge protector is fine?
