hey, running k7s5a with 1 stick 256 sdram crucial. i tried adding another stick of mushkin 128 sd ram. system froze after 5 minutes, and the mushkin went dead. rma it, and tried new stick, but it just freezes after 5 minutes. anyone else have this problem?

system info:
k7s5a
1500+ xp
win xp
pci radeon
tb santa cruz
wintv go
generic lan card
antec 400w psu

only thing i can think of is that it's either the board, or psu. but shouldn't the psu i have be able to handle it?

2 256M of SDRAM work fine in mine. I never tried a 256M with a 128M.

Possibly the sticks have different timings. You could try switching positions.

I don't think the amount of power these pull should be a problem. But "flakey" knows no reasoning.

Have you tried the sticks separately, one at a time. Try doing a memory test if they work separately. There is a link to one I believe in the FAQ topic.

I'm running 2 sticks of sdram on my K7S5A, 256,128 PC100 @133 FSB no problems. Also running
XP1600 (not OC'D), Allied 350 watt PS. What Rev. is the Mobo?? you might want to flash it to the
latest BIOS and see if that helps..

I've never had problem running two sticks of DIMMs in my K7S5A with either SDRAM or DDR. Neither has my brother. However, all my memory are matched brands so that might have something to do with it.
