I'm in my 20's now, so I thought that I would not be susceptible to this, but my WD 7200 RPM drive is driving me crazy. It has this high pitch whine that I assume is caused by the platter rotation. I tried putting the computer on the ground and it is still driving me nuts. I have an older Maxtor 7200 RPM and it definitely does not have this high pitch whine. Anyone else have whining hard drives? What can I do to insulate the high pitch sound?
