Anyone a practicing Pagan?

What does the "religion" require of you to do on Halloween(th 31st)??? Is it some sort of holiday or something or are you forbidden to work? What other holidays do you get?

"pagan" is a pretty loose term for any indigenous religion that the Christians wanted to stamp out. Many of the "pagan" religions transferred their pratices without using books, so no real record of their practices exists just corrupted legends.

So do what the dirty hippies did, and make stuff up.

"Pagan" is pretty much "anything that isn't a Christian, Muslim, Jew, Hindu or Sihk." It tells you pretty much nothing about what they are, only what they aren't.

I always looked at pagan religions as having to do with nature worshipping, dells, fairies, spirits of nature...that kind of stuff. *shrug*

Most people who are pagan are 45 year old women with long frizzy hair who never married and own 7 cats.

That is a very very bias assumption(ass/u/me is the base word for assumption)

But it's not your fault for being for a ignorant mass. You were born that way.

..I always wanted to be a Druid and worship the mighty oak tree..and mabe some day become a wizard..what da ya think dolls..can I do it?? 😀

Halloween also called samhain depending on exact practice is the day of the dead.
It is beleived that during this night the "barrier" between living world and the dead world is at it's weakest making it easy for the sprits of the dead to interact with the living. It is also the day the Sun God dies(which is reborn during the Winter Solstice December 25th. Another holiday stolen by the Christians)

Two practicies that are common among different practices is dressing up like "demons" or ghosts and making Jack-o-lanterns. The reason for this is, if you dress up like a demon or ghost the evil sprits will think you are one of them and leave you alone to go bother someone else.

Jack-o-lanterns orginally make from a type of hard gourd. These were used by people who needed to travel during this night to scare off mischevious faries whom may lead the travelers astray.

There is a basic description of this holiday and what is means to some.

And no I'm not pagan, I just know of these things.

used to be.

when I was in college, we (me + some pagan friends) would camp out in the woods the day/night of the closest full moon to Oct. 31st and run through some rituals.

and then get drunk and stoned 😛
