I know Staples has been doing this for awhile now, but I just think they should show at checkout when you purchase online, the amount that is going to be charged to your credit card and not just the amount of their item. Obviously it is some marketing genius' idea to not show the tax and subconsciously all the half-wits will think they are getting a better deal.

I wrote a short email to them after I orderes suggesting that their customers would actually prefer to see the tax at checkout (so they know the "real cost"). If anybody else feels this way perhaps you can give them some feedback on this and get the AT-effect...in effect.

Are you saying that you sign for a credit card purchse that doesn't show the final cost, including tax? If you are doing so you are a dumbass.

why is that being a dumbass...I know what tax is. I'd just like to see it instead of having to do a rough estimate in my head.

Tax % is dependent on your location. For example, where I live, its 7.75%. In Los Angeles, its 8.25%.

I have worked at Staples for 3 years. They clearly show the tax on the reciept UNLESS, you live in a state that has no sales tax like New Hampshire. At the register, the item is shown, but then on the bottom right hand corner is the total cost including tax. I am confused about what the issue is and if you could be a little clearer I could help more.
