Well how about you actually try going to get it before assuming you'll have difficulty.

It's always been an obvious option on that page.

no it hasn't. i remember one time where there wasn't an option to get qt without itunes.

Yes, there was, and it was a text link that said "QuickTime Standalone Download".

I remember downloading quicktime from the apple page a few months ago and they didn't have the standalone option.

As I remember it, it wasn't so easy to find the iTunes-free quicktime distro... give OP a break.
