anyhere here ever RMA'ed a DFI board?

I googled this and only found a couple results, the people said they weren't too happy with the process. I have a DFI LP DK-45 Elite I bought around Xmas. My system has been working great, but Friday I unhooked my PC & took it to my sisters house. Here's where my problem started, when I got here and hooked it up, trying to turn it on got nothing. I checked the MB and the LED at the bottom is on when the PSU is hooked up (power LED?) but my power button does nothing. And pressing the power button directly on the MB doesn't do anything. I took out the one card I have (video) took all the memory out, removed my heatsink & CPU & put the CPU back in. No fans spin up when I try to turn it on, and the LED error code screen shows nothing. I checked for born marks or busted caps. Everything looks good. I'm assuming it's not the CPU because I should still get some sort of power, at least my fans spinning. DFI's web site doesn't have much info on their RMA procedure. Was wondering if they did advanced replacement. The 2 things I read on Google said it took them a month to get their board back when they sent it in. I'd hate to go without my PC for a month 🙁

so you didn't try a new PSU?

I don't have a spare, it oddly enough started working again when for the hell of it I cleared the CMOS jumper. I had did it a few times with no luck. Never had a PC not even attempt to come on due to this. But, it's working now.

I should probably pick up a cheap spare PSU to use for instances like this

I can't think of any motherboard manufacturer that has smooth/consistant rma service. If its a relatively new product, RMA may be quick but if its a EOL'ed item, good luck because they'll flat out ignore you (at least IME) until they get more replacements in stock.

I just RMA'd an EVGA NF-4 that EOL'd about 3 years ago. 🙂 I'm not sure what I'll get back but the process was pretty smooth. I talked to CS for a few minutes and tried basic troubleshooting and then received a RMA a few days later.

I have no experience with EVGA motherboard RMA but from my observation, I think many people agree that they're sort of an exception compared to the asian companies. Evga, xfx and bfg are legendary in comparison. Out of those 3, its unfortunate that only evga sells late model motherboards. 🙂
