AnyDVD is a great product. In the article the OP linked to, the writer keeps whining about ads and other garbage that gets placed into these HD dvd's. Now I agree with him completely that this stuff is garbage, but why the heck do you keep rewarding companies by buying those products then? Simply refuse to buy the disks with all the ads and restrictions on them.

With AnyDVD, you're paying for a product that removes restrictions and other other bad 'features' on disks. You're also rewarding the companies by still buying their disks, meaning they will just continue to get worse......

I use an older copy of AnyDVD on my HTPC (haven't updated it in a while because I don't like rebooting the HTPC), and it was worth the price. If AnyDVD HD works as advertised (and doesn't stop working when they start revoking keys), it'll be WELL worth twice it's price.

AnyDVD is a great product but this particular feature is available freely. it's just not a nice GUI interface. wonder how soon it will take for them to get sued.

and consumers other options would be???? It's either buy that or nothing at all. for a "I'm not going to buy your advertising laden product to register my displeasure and get you to stop making this crap." boycott to work almost EVERYONE would have to stop buying.

Otherwise, I don't think the corp. giants are going to feel the sting or get the message. they're making far too much $$$ from the ads to really give a fvck what the "informed consumer" thinks. they're money makers are the sheep who buy this stuff and have no issue with it.

The 360 hd dvd drive is the cheapest drive for PC's right now.

The 360 drive just connects via a USB 2.0 cable, right? What software do you use to play the HD DVDs?

Don't you need Vista to play HD and Blue ray or can it be done on WinXPSP2?
I know AnyDvD HD does remove the HDCP requirement .
