i heard that UPENN has such a deal, and they get good prices.... i don't just mean the standard 'academic discount'... i'm talking like $800-1000+ discounts... my dept had a deal with apple recently where you got really good prices on powerbooks, but i'm holding out for an ibm.... just curious

We have deals with Dell and Microsoft. I wish I could get discounts on a Powerbook. What kind of price were they asking?

The schools that I am aware of use PCs and they do not get anything more than the "academic" discount.

Not college related, but my company bought 20 IBM Thinkpads, 5 of which needed motherboard replacement in about 14 months. IBM would not back them, would not budge or deal at all. My company Will no longer approve any IBM purchases. They have lost our business due to bad support.
