<<---Dear Mods, please leave this in OT for a while to get some ATOT'ers input before you move it to the appropriate forum, thanks

I was just looking for more information/resources on producing cool educational materail. It's not for anything specific, just getting more info. (I'm bacially a programmer, but have working knowledge of flash mx, but have no design/3d experience, but am a fast learner.)
Here's what i know:
1) I know that you can make a movie that shows how to do a task, break it up into chunks, separate the scenes with cool slides and have it controllled by script, maybe even action scripting in flash so that the user can navigate.
2) I know that you can use a 3d world like adobe atmosphere to teach someone about how to move and interact with an environment.
3) I know you can use flash/dreamweaver/authorware to come up with snazzy material too (for testing, quizzes).
4) Which 3d design/modelling program would be good to start with making models of things that can be taken apart, twisted, etc..
Anything else?
Any info/advice/potential barriers/difficulites would be appreciated about the 4 points above would be appreciated.
Thanks,
AJ.
