Don't got voice stream cuz I live in sweden... but I've got an Ericsson T28s and it's so cool, nice design and so :)

I have friends who have it. The service is not bad, it has about as many problems as AT&T and Sprint. Verizon is supposedly the best service in the city but it is expensive. I would get the Nokia 8290 if I were getting VoiceStream, I'm not familiar with the Ericcsson phone you are talking about.

yeah the 8290 is pretty good too
I used to have the 8210 which is the european model, great phone.
Simply want to try another one, Ericcsson makes great phone, besides the T28W is dual Band so it will work in europe too, whereas the 8290 isnt.
the only downside is that the batteries of the ericcsson dont last long, well I ll just get a second battery for that.

I've got VoiceStream Wireless but here in Oregon and it's the best combination of service/features/price compared to AT&T, Sprint PCS, Nextel, etc.

$39.95 per month for 2,600 minutes (600 weekday, 2000 weekend nationwide free long distance minutes).

LOVE my Nokia 6190, unfortunately they are discontinuing it :(

Arrrg! Why? I have the 8260 from AT&T, they don't offer the 8290. I really wanted to eventually get a 8290. Any idea what the replacement will be?

the 8260 is the TDMA version and the 8290 is the GSM1900 version of the same phone
AT&T and verizon only offer TDMA, AFAIK only voice stream has GSM on the east coast.
In europe they already have the 6200 and 7100 series which rock.
I wished nokia would speed up the US release of those phones.

BTW you can play tetris and solitare on the ericcsson T28World, crazy :)

I've got voicestream (Nokia 8290) and the service has been great in Pennsylvania, Boston, Buffalo, even Canada... If the digital GSM system has coverage, you're cool... I have the North American package, no roaming, no LD, anywhere in NA... Would recommend...

I was in NYC a few weeks ago with a friend who purchased a voicestream cell and had the worst customer service ever. the guy he dealt with was such an idiot and even the people at the 800 number were stupid. they assigned him a number that had just been disconected so it needed to be "recycled" through the system, whatever that means. anyway from my experience, their CS department needs a large overhaul. if you do end up getting voicestream, make sure you dont purchase from the dealer near grand central station if you are within the city. good luck
