Those are big pics!

And a real shame on the monitor. I'm about to pull the trigger on one, but i want this to be my actual HTPC... and i'm just wondering how it is for DVD and TV viewing. Regular SD TV will probably be horrible, but i'm hoping DVDs would be good at least.

Of course, that'll also mean i'm going to need to build a new desktop as well :(

whats normal DVD res again ? 752xsomething, id imagine that at a normal viewing distance, ie like you would have for watching tv in the living room, DVD would be ok.

but close up 750 somehting x 500 something image stretched across that gigantic 2560x1600 screen isnt going to look too sharp.

I'm sure someone on the forums has one, I saw a size comparison next to the 240.. I think, anyhow.

And that sucks big time about the screen. Fedex coughed up insurance and such?

I haven't seen it yet, but I hear my UPS-delivered 2405 has a banged up box. I'll find out when I get home.

Damn....I'd have throttled the FedEx guy right there. They get paid a TON of money to do what they do, and they're that careless? (note that I've never had a damaged FedEx package, either, yet...)

While OT a bit FedEx screwed me today, delivered my Opteron 165 and new RAM to some random dude with a totally different address in a different zip code. they are apparently trying to retrieve the package as we speak. My guess is I won't be getting my $550 worth of products today.

dvds look fine on my 2405 if they're encoded well from a decent source. badly made dvds and some that are downloaded can look horrible. getting a monitor like this is a measure against piracy :p HD looks awesome on it tho :)

i've just purchased a 3007 and cant wait to see how it dwarfs the 2405 :D

It's usually not the fault of the guy who delivers it to your door. It's usually their automatic machinery that messes up. When I went to the UPS store (FedEx, UPS, etc, all use the same style of machinery) to package my stuff, the lady there told me to tape up all the open "handles" of my boxes because they tend to get "caught" by the machinery. I'm guessing that in this case, the machine actually just punched a hole right into the box without hooking on to something first.

This pretty much can happen to anyone with any shipping company, and sucks for everyone (shippers get brought to court or Dell has to replace the unit which translates to higher prices for consumers).

It's much better than the 2405 - digital "noise" is much lower.

No one seems to mention (outside of the single DVI input) that there are NO adjustments whatsoever - just on / off and brightness up/down. This makes the product essentially the same as the Apple display minus the memory card reader.

If you need to adjust color it must be done in the graphics adapter control panel.
