Lookin to spend around 300, don't want to get anything too expensive because it will probably get jacked. Any recommendations? Used Trek? Giant?

While we're on the subject, what kinda locks and stuff do you recommend?

Get a good U-lock and lock the frame to something solid. Then get a cable lock and lock both wheels and the seat to the frame. That won't be going anywhere anytime soon.

And if you're only going two miles, it doesn't really matter what you ride becaus eit's not far enough to tire you out or make you sore, and the difference in speed between a slow bike and a fast bike is only going to be a minute or two over 2 miles.

But, get This bike. :p

Most bikes get jacked at night/early morning at your residence.. buy a good lock (krytonite) but lug your bike inside your apartment every night!

<-- lost two bikes in six months :| but my third is safe and sound now (for about a year). Good to have peace of mind knowing that no one's gonna jack your bike as you sleep.
