Anybody want my stuff? Just ate a few bites from 4-year expired popcorn

Found some microwave popcorn in the pantry - made what is likely a fatal mistake by not checking the bag and just putting it in the microwave. Smell was pretty bad, but decided what the hell and threw a few of them in my mouth. It was only upon the gagging that I decided to check out the bag and see that they expired January 2009.

I've had ancient popcorn before, and it's alright. I ate it til bugs got in the bags, then ditched it. It took a long time to get to it cause it was that nasty sweet 'kettle corn'. Disappointment in every bag...

expiry dates are lies put out by the FDA to make you go out and replace all the things you think are expired but aren't really.

who knows maybe expired popcorn is a cure for cancer?

The popcorn is fine...the butter and any oils added is what likely went rancid.

4 year old expired popcorn, you'd be fine. However, the popcorn you ate was actually FIVE years old. That stuff is lethal. Better start making funeral arrangements.
